One line.
I had convinced myself that I would see two.
And then I was a bit sad.
I am indeed relieved, because I am definitely not ready for another one yet, although based on my *sad* reaction ... I am now thinking if a whoops happened, I would be okay with it, rather than annoyed. Overwhelmed, but okay.

paranoia
Not that it's even possible, but I am now a bit paranoid that Sprout part 2 could be on the way ...
I've been exceptionally nauseous for days, I don't want to eat cheese, and I've had rampant heartburn. I had convinced myself it was nothing, but it keeps grating at me, and now I need to POAS to see if this is even possible. I hope it's nothing and I'm freaking myself out, because I am sooooo not ready for another one. I *think* I want more kids down the road, but right now, I am not ready. WE are not ready. We need a bit more of a stable (read: more space) living arrangment, and I think James and I have a bit of work to do before we need to add another child to the mix. This, of course, assuming that I can actually control these things and when they happen.
I'm going to the store on my way home from work. I'll have my answer soon enough.
I better only see one line.

here is thumbkin
Charlotte finally discovered her thumb!
She has been sucking on her fist for a couple weeks now, but today managed to find and suck on her thumb several times! Hopefully this is one step closer to saying goodbye to Mr. Binky. I certainly don't mind if she is a binky girl (heck, I was one), but it'd be easier if we don't have to deal with a mini-tragedy every time the binky falls out of her mouth.
Otherwise, she is becoming such a wonderful baby. She is happy almost all of the time, rarely cries because she is tended to very quickly. Still nurses great and is allowing us to put her down more and more rather than needing to be held all the time.
I miss her so much when I'm at work, but it's good for us to have some time apart, I think. I'm so attached to her, I think it's healthier for me to be away from her than vice versa, but she is very much a momma's girl right now, so it's good that she gets some daddy time.

diflucan
I broke down and took Charlotte to the doctor tonight about her rash & thrush. She's been on both the cream and the oral Nystatin for a week and it's helped, but it's still present, and I want to see results.
He prescribed her some oral diflucan to add to the nystatin which we're supposed to keep using. He said her thrush didn't look that bad. I guess he knows what he's talking about.
Hopefully we can get somewhere with this. I'm tired of disposable diapers. They do not hold in atomic blowout baby poo.

thrush
I feel embarrassed to be writing about this - but it's such a common thing I shouldn't be.
Tuesday morning I noticed a significant rash on Ms. Charlotte. It looked like yeast to me (thank goodness I have experience in the rash area - enough to tell the difference between a normal rash and yeast.) I tried her in disposables with a couple different heavy-duty creams, and no difference. I called the pediatrician and they prescribed a prescription cream with Nystatin to hopefully clear it up. Then I had to go buy disposables (groan), but at least I bought the ones that are made of cornstarch and not plastic (that made me feel a bit better).
My diapering blog has more information about this, but that evening I began a long and tedious process of trying to figure out how on earth to strip her cloth diapers of yeast. After about 3 hours, I learned that the most effective way was to wash them in bleach. *sigh* So, after that, and several repeated washings, followed by a detergent wash to hopefully make sure all the bleach was out. I'll keep her in disposables until the rash is COMPLETELY gone. For several days no less. I don't want yeast lingering in her diapers.
THEN, amidst all the chaos (the night I before I was going back to work, no less) ... I figured out that she has thrush in her mouth. JOY. Another couple calls to the pediatrician's office, and talked to the nurse who would talk to the pediatrician in the morning. At least that could wait.
James talked with them the next day while I was sleeping, and prescription for Nystatin oral drops was prescribed. Problem was, he couldn't go pick them up, and I didn't have time to. My parents watched Charlotte last night, so my wonderful, wonderful father (best daddy ever) was able to pick them up for us.
So, we are now putting drops in her mouth every 6 hours until the thrush has been GONE for three days. We are SLATHERING her cute little rashy bum with 'bumbalm' until the yeast rash is gone. My cloth diapers are gathering dust, but I'd rather that than have to get rid of the yeast again (hopefully it's gone). And, I am now back to work (I'll post more on that later).
I'm not sure if I need to be treated for the thrush as well. The pediatrician's office said it wasn't necessary so long as I wasn't having symptoms myself (I'm not). I placed a call to the lactation consultant today to be sure (haven't heard back). A coworker suggested dripping the nystatin drops on my nipples to get the benefit of it that way. I'm sure that would be fine, but I'm not comfortable doing that without double-checking with the LC or someone that's more knowledgeable. I guess we'll see!

back to work
I can't believe this day is here already. I've been so busy with my little girl, I haven't had nearly the amount of time to sit down and type as I would like, but I am definitely thankful for the moments that we have had.
I go back to work tomorrow. I am so unbelievably sad to leave my little girl. As I was rocking her to sleep tonight, I was just heartbroken to know I won't be able to do it tomorrow or the two days after that. I know she will be in wonderful hands with James, but I just can't bear to leave her yet.
I have truly been blessed to have been able to take a full 12 weeks off work. I wish that it could be longer, but I am fortunate to have had this long with her. I know it is probably better for me to get used to having some time away from her (and healthy I'm sure), but it just makes me sad that I might miss something.
I love Charlotte more than I ever knew it was possible to love someone. I am in love with her and I am in love with being a mom. I am so grateful that I have had this opportunity. I couldn't imagine spending my life a better way than being a mother.

a letter to God
Dear God,
I am writing to inform you of a design flaw in the human infant. It seems silly to me that you have created them to drop their binky and then get upset about it. I feel as though they either need to know how to keep the binky in the mouth, or not get upset when it falls out. I hope you will consider this redesign. Thanks for your time.
